Killing of pregnant lady in crossfire a gory incident: JRL ‘Kashmir passing through darkest chapters of history’

Srinagar, Oct 20: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the killing of a pregnant lady Firdousa of Shadimarg, Pulwama, in exchange of firing between government forces and militants.

Expressing deep anger and grief over the incident, the JRL in a statement issued to GNS said the gory incident in which the pregnant Firdousa was killed reflects the nature of atrocities being inflicted upon the people of Kashmir.
The leadership prayed to Almighty to grant patience to the husband of slain Firdousa and grant her highest standards in Jannah for the deceased.
The JRL added, “The brutal thrashing of people including two women at Trichal, Pulwama by forces who went berserk is the worst form of state terrorism and the direct outcome of the unbridled powers given to the armed forces in Kashmir.”
In absence of any accountability forces are killing, maiming and thrashing the people much to their choice anywhere and anytime at their wish and will, the leaders said.

Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik said Kashmir is passing through the blackest chapter of the history. “Kashmir is witnessing the vicious cycle of the killing of youth and there is hardly any day when youth are not killed on one or the other pretext and the streets of Kashmir are turned red almost every day,” they said.
The basic reason for the serious and fragile atmosphere prevailing in Kashmir is the Delhi’s “hegemonic” approach in delaying the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Instead of accepting the ground realities, New Delhi is following its iron fist policy by banking on its military might which has further aggravated the situation.
The JRL urged the world community to intervene at this “crucial juncture” and take serious note of the situation prevailing in Kashmir so that people are given a sense of security.
The leadership also urged the world human rights organizations to take serious note of the “unabated human rights violations” in Kashmir and impress upon Delhi to stop its “aggression” on Kashmiris.
The JRL while expressing serious concern over the safety and security of hundreds of Kashmiri students studying outside State and the unemployed Kashmiri youth looking for jobs there urged the heads of various states to ensure safety and security of all Kashmiris and to take steps to stop their harassment by various fanatic elements.
