Geelani telephonically addresses condolence gathering of slain Shopian youth

“India is suffering from arrogance of power and is using an imperialistic attitude in Jammu and Kashmir to crush our movement of right to self determination,” said the chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani in his telephonic address to mourners of slain youth Aamir Ahmad Rather of Aawneera, Shopian.

According to a statement issued to GNS, Geelani in his telephonic address paid tributes to all the slain youth and said, “Since 1947, our nation has rendered unparalleled sacrifices.”
He said the situation in Valley is worsening with each passing day and that Indian authorities rely on their military might to suppress people’s aspirations and muzzle voices.

Justifying the resentment from youth, Geelani said “our youth are resisting, putting an end to slavery and this barbarity”. (GNS)

Srinagar: Several locals including women were allegedly beaten by government forces soon after vehicle of 55 Rashtriya rifles was targeted on Watchi Darbagh road on Friday.
Talking to media, locals alleged that an hour after blast took place in the area, forces barged into many residential houses and beat up family members and ransacked other property as well.
“They even didn’t spare women and thrashed several men from nearby area of the blast site,” the locals told.  “Four among us were beaten severely that they have been hospitalized,” the locals alleged.
