One militant killed, one arrested in Dialgam gunfight: Police

Srinagar, Apr 01 (KNS): On specific input regarding presence of militants SFs, launched a cordon and search operation in Peth, Dialgam area in the jurisdiction of Police station Anantnag.

As the search started and the location of militants was zeroed in, the security forces made repeated requests on loud speaker asking them to surrender, as per the SOP.

On this, one of the militants (name withheld) came out of the house and surrendered before the forces. He has been taken into custody.

It is pertinent to mention that the family of the militant who surrendered at the encounter site also helped the police in motivating him to come out of the house and surrender.

The other did not do so and instead resorted to firing on the forces which was retaliated and in which he was killed.

He was identified as Rouf Khanday.

Rouf had gone missing early this year and his gun yielding photograph had come on social media in last week of March

The body of Rouf has been handed over to the family for last rites.

Shopian gunfights: 9 militants killed

Shopian, Apr 01 (KNS): At least nine militants have been killed in two separate encounters in Shopian while as many more are reportedly holed up.

Sources in the police have confirmed to KNS that nine have been killed whereas six more are engaged in gunfight. Meanwhile DGP has said that seven dead bodies have been recovered so far. Some top commanders are also among the dead. (KNS)

Reliance Jio Prime membership extended free for another year: Here’s how to avail

Reliance Jio has extended its Prime membership benefits for another year.
The service will be complimentary for existing Prime users, which means they will not have to pay any additional fee to continue using Prime programme benefits. Those who wish to join Reliance Jio’s Prime scheme can do so by paying Rs 99. New Jio Prime members can join on or after April 1. The company is also planning to bring new benefits under the Prime programme, details of which are unclear at this moment.

Mother of Khanyar boy pleads her son to return

Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNS): Asking militant outfit to let her son to return home, the mother of 18-year-old Srinagar boy, Fahad Mushtaq who has reportedly joined the militancy Wednesday made an avid appeal to her son to shun militancy.

The emotional scenes were witnessed at Srinagar’s Press enclave after the mother of Fahad including his relatives assembled there to make an appeal to their beloved whose photograph showing him wielding gun went viral on the social networking site.

“It is for the first that my son lied to me,” Fahad’s mother said while appealing him to return home.

Fahad’s mother and his other relatives who appeared in Mushtaq enclave said that their left home to go with Tableegi Jama’at (group of Da’ee). “My son was inclined towards religion. He lied to me saying he wants to go with Tableegi Jama’at and I let him go,” Fahad’s mother told media persons here.

On ‘Pak day’ function, Hurriyat leaders pitch for purposeful dialogue to end border skirmishes, bloodshed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 26: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Monday said that the leaders who attended the Pakistan Day celebrations at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi pitched for the purposeful dialogue to end the border skirmishes and bloodshed in Kashmir.
Chief spokesperson of the amalgam, G A Gulzar told KNS that the open discussion over the current situation in the state was held in ‘Pak Day’ function.
He said that the main issue between India and Pakistan is unresolved Kashmir issue, which should be resolved through a purposeful dialogue.
The discussion related to the border skirmishes, bloodshed in Kashmir and other related things was held in the function. “The leaders who participated in the function pitched for a purposeful dialogue between to end the border skirmishes and bloodshed in Kashmir,” Chief spokesperson said.
