FLASH: JRL calls for shutdown on Tomorrow

Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik Saturday called for a complete shutdown on Sunday against the civilian killing by government forces in Srinagar.

Paying tributes to the slain militants the JRL statement said that civilian Adil Ahmad was mercilessly crushed to death by a forces vehicle.

Police takes cognizance over ‘accident’ that resulted in civilian killing Says necessary legal action involving police vehicle initiated

Srinagar, May 05 (KNS): Following the killing of a civilian in ‘an accident’ at Noorbagh area of Srinagar, police on Saturday said that it has taken cognizance of the incident.

Police said that necessary legal action involving the police vehicle has been initiated.
“Police has taken cognizance of the Noorbagh road accident incident of today. Necessary legal action involving the police vehicle has been initiated,” police tweeted. (KNS)

3 Militants Killed at Sagi Mohalla, Chattabal area of Sgr. Also three CRPF personal injured. Encounter over. Identification yet to be ascertained.

Srinagar, May 05 (KNS): Police on Saturday said that three militants were on Saturday killed in an encounter with contingents of police and paramilitary CRPF in Chattabal area in uptown Srinagar. Sleuths of police and paramilitary CRCRP had cordoned the area and were conducting searches to nab the militants who they believed were hiding in the area.

Police in its statement issued Saturday afternoon said that perusing credible leads, Srinagar police along with CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Chatabal Area in the jurisdiction of Police Station Safakadal, Srinagar. While the searches were intensified, the hiding militants fired upon the joint search party. The fire, the statement said, was retaliated, ensuing an encounter. In the encounter 3 militants were killed whose identifications are being ascertained. Incriminating materials including heavy arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site. Thousands Attend Funeral; 8th Class Student Laid To Rest, With His School Shirt

Tousands of people Thursday attended the funeral prayers of Umar Kumhar, a 8th class student who was killed during clashes with government forces near the encounter site at south Kashmir’s Turkewangam area of Shopian district, Reports Said.

The emotions went high and people were seen wailing and beating their chest as the parents of Umar laid the School uniform shirt of Umar over his body, an eyewitnesses told Global Kashmir.

Thousands of mourners including women and children were seen wailing and crying when the body of 14 years old Umar was taken for burial, witnesses adding women and children especially his classmates showered toffees and flowers on Umar’s body.

Mohammad Umar was hit by a bullet fired by forces last evening, locals sources said, however police said he was killed in cross firing.

Earlier gunfight broke out after a joint team of army and SOG was fired upon by militants in Terkiwangam. The party according to official sources had started search operation following specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.
The forces team approached the suspected spot amid firing some warning shots, they said adding, the militants, hiding in the area, opened fire, triggering off a gunfight.

Three persons shot dead by unknown gunmen in Baramulla

Three persons were shot dead by unknown gunmen at Khanpora area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday evening.
 Official sources told that the gunmen fired upon the three persons near Iqbal Market Khanpora.  In the incident the trio sustained serious bullet wounds and died instantly on the spot. A police officer when contacted told that they are verifying the details.    "Yes we have recovered three bullet riddled bodies and their identities are being ascertained," the officer said.
He said that further investigations into the incident has been launched as to why the trio have been killed.
The officer, meanwhile said that soon after the attack government forces have launched a cordon-and-search operation to trace out the attackers.

In a statement, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik while strongly condemning the killing of a student Shahid Ashraf Dar and two youth Sameer Ahmad and Aqib Wani by Indian armed forces and injuring more than 50 innocent unarmed people by using bullets and pellets and unleashing a reign of 'terror' at Drabgam Pulwama and other parts of south Kashmir have called for complete shutdown on 1st May 2018 Tuesday against these unabated killings.

Sameer Tiger among two militants slain in Pulwama

Srinagar, April 30 (GNS): Two militants including a top Hizb Commander Sameer Tiger have been killed in an ongoing operation at Drabgam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday. Official sources told GNS that the joint team of forces during the searches recovered two militant bodies namely Sameer Ahmad Bhat alias Tiger son of Mohammad Maqbool of Drabgam and Aqib Khan son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan of Rajpora. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police south Kashmir Range Amit Kumar told GNS that two militants were killed and their bodies along with as many weapons were recovered. “Identification of the slain militants are yet to be ascertained,” DIG said, adding that the searches are going on. A civilian Shahid Ashraf Dar (18) son of Mohammad Ashraf Dar, a resident of Arihal, sustained a critical bullet wound during the clashes near the site of a gun battle, however, later succumbed. Two army men injured in ongoing gunfight in Drubgam Pulwama Clashes erupted near gunfight site

Srinagar, Apr 30 (KNS): Two army men were On Monday injured in an encounter with militants in Drubgam village of Pulwama district in South Kashmir, officials said.

Reports said that government forces launched searches in Drubgam village of Pulwama district after receiving information about presence of two to three militants in the area, a police official said.
As the forces were closing in, the militants opened indiscriminate fire on them, the official said.
Two soldiers were injured in the firing, an Army official said, adding the cordon has been strengthened and an operation to flush out the militants was going on.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted between protestors and government forces near ongoing firefight site in south Kashmir’s Pulwama village, leaving eight protesters injured. (KNS)
