JRL’s Lal Chowk march foiled, Mirwaiz, JKLF leaders detained Valley shuts, restrictions imposed in Srinagar areas

Srinagar, May 19 (Kashmir 24X7) : Authorities on Saturday foiled the Lal chowk march of separatist by imposing sealing the commercial Hub and imposing restrictions in Srinagar areas. The Lal Chowk chalo call was given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik who had appealed people to march towards Lal chowk today to protest against the Modi’s visit to the state.Modi attended the commencement of work on Zojila Tunnel on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway at an event in Jive-tsal in Leh tomorrow. He also laid foundation stone for Srinagar Ring Road and Jammu Ring Road at separate events at Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar and at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu the same day.

North Kashmir encounter: One more militant body recovered; death toll 4

Body of one more militant has been recovered near the gunfight site at Brinjal forest area of Vilgam, Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, taking the death toll of militants to four.

An army official told GNS that the body of the fourth militant has been recovered during the search operation.
He said that the operation in the dense woods is still going on.
Earlier, the officer had said that three bodies of the militants were recovered along with as many AK-rifles.
He had said that reinforcements of army and SOG have been rushed to the area.
Regarding the slain militants, he said that they apparently are foreigners and their identity would be established by police and other agencies.
“From the material carried by them, it seems the group belonged to the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant outfit,” the officer said.
As reported by the GNS, quoting army officials, three militants were killed in the woods on Friday.

‘Calls for Lal chowk march, observe May 19 as black day’

Grand Mufti (designate) Mufti-Nasir-ul-Islam has appealed people to observe May 19 as black day in view of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s to Kashmir.

Mufti also asked the imams to use the pulpits of the mosques and play their role in educating people about the Indian atrocities in Kashmir.

“People should leave their houses on Saturday and move towards lal chowk to tell the world about the Indian atrocities,” Mufti said in a statement.

“If the authorities impose curfew and stop people from reaching lal chowk, they should enter mosques and use loudspeakers to register their protest against India and Modi”.

He also appealed the political parties, across the ideological divide, to restrain from meeting Prime Minister Modi.

“If their conscience is alive, they should not meet Modi,” Grand Mufti said. “If they hold respect for the lakhs people who sacrificed their lives for the Kashmir cause, they should not meet him”.

9 Employees suspended in Sumbal Bandipora

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora on Thursday put nine employees under suspension for remaining absent from duties unauthorisedly.
On the directions of District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sumbal today inspected various offices of Sumbal area and found 09 officials unauthorisedly absent from their legitimate duties.
All the 09 officials including 02 head Assistants of Board office Sumbal namely Nasser Ahmed and Farooq Ahmed, Master Syed Aftab Ahmed of Middle School Shilwat , two Teachers of Middle School Shilwat – Khalida Khalif and Gulshan Ji, three orderlies of Irrigation and Flood Control department Sumbal namely Nargis Ahmed, Neelofer Jan and Ghulam Hassan , an RRT Nusrat Jabeen of Middle School Shilwat placed under suspension .
All the afore mentioned officials have placed under suspension with immediate effect.
DC Bandipora has asked Sub divisional Magistrate Sumbal to inquire into the matter and will charge sheet the suspendees.

The holy month of Ramazan will begin in Pakistan from Thursday, Chairman of the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman announced today.

The committee led by Mufti Munib met today for sighting of the Ramazan moon.
The meeting was held at the main office of the Meteorological Department where evidence of moon sighting was collected.
The moon was sighted in various parts of the country, including Lower Dir, Buner, Nathiagali, Abottabad, Quetta, among others.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee earlier today also called on citizens to spot the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars and to contact them on the following numbers and record their testimonies.
In Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the crescent was sighted on Tuesday. The month of Ramazan will begin on Thursday, May 17 in the two countries.
Earlier the Australian National Imams Council declared that the holy month of Ramazan will begin on Thursday.

JRL calls for Lal Chowk march on Saturday to protest PM Modi’s visit 'Shutdown on May 21 on anniversaries of Mirwaiz Farooq and Gani Lone'

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for ‘Lal Chowk chalo’ on Saturday, May 19 to protest the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jammu and Kashmir. PM Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on May 19.
JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Tuesday appealed people to march towards the historic Lal Chowk on Saturday to protest the PM’s visit. The leaders, in a statement, also called for a shutdown on May 21 on the anniversaries of Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq, Abdul Gani Lone and martyrs of Hawal massacre. "A grand rally will be organised on the day to pay tributes to the martyrs at Eidgah," they said.Source
