Militants killed in Kashmir’s Shopian


 Srinagar November 03:(GNS) One militant was killed in ongoing encounter at Khudpora area of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday evening.

 Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of army and police cordoned off Khudpora area after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

A senior Police officer told GNS that that one militant body has been so far recovered along with an AK-47 rifle. The officer however said that searches are going on to find if there is anymore bodies.(GNS)

Three BSF jawans injured in militant attack in Srinagar

Three BSF personnel were injured on Monday in a suspected militant attack on their vehicle in Pantha chowk area on the outskirts of Srinagar city, police said. Gunmen opened fire on a security force vehicle at the Pantha chowk injuring three jawans, a police official said. He said the injured personnel, belonging to the 163 battalion, have been hospitalised and one of the jawans is in serious condition. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to track down the assailants, he added.


Unknown persons on Monday evening attacked the residence of former lawmaker at a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Reports said that unknown persons hurled a grenade at the residence of former Peoples Democratic Party MLA Abdul Razaq Wagay at Zawoora village around 7:25 pm. The grenade, however, exploded outside the house, causing no injuries or loss of life, they said. Wagay, who is presently putting up in Srinagar told Greater Kashmir that his family at his native residence heard a blast like sound. He, however, said that they were not sure if it was a grenade blast

Three militants arrested near Noora hospital Narbal

Srinagar, Oct 29: The state police on Monday claimed to have arrested three militants near Noora Hospital in Narbal area of HMT in the outskirts of Srinagar.
Police told KNS that militants travelling in a vehicle jumped police Naka while throwing grenade on forces near Srinagar.

They said that forces retaliated and managed to arrest three militants whose identification was being ascertained.
“One among them has received injuries during the exchange of fire,” they said.
They said that a huge arms and ammunition has been recovered from their possession.

8 houses gutted in fire in Poonch, fire tenders reach on time but without water; probe ordered

Poonch, Oct 30 (GNS): Eight residential houses, five belonging to as many brothers, in fire incident at Dogrian, Bufliaz area of Surankote in Poonch district, reports said on Monday.

Reports reaching GNS said that the fire erupted at around 1:00 a.m. and with in no time engulfed the adjoining houses.

The residential houses which were gutted completely include that of Waliyat Khan, Adalat Khan, Adayat Khan, Ayoib Khan and Younis Khan sons of Lal Hussain and Mohd Sharief Khan, Qayoom Khan, Marouf Khan sons of Khadam Hussain Khan.

The goods purchased by the Waliyat Khan for the wedding of her daughter were also gutted in the fire, they said.

The local residents alleged that after being informed well in time, the fire tenders reached the spot but with not sufficient water to douse off the flames.

Waliyat said that soon after the fire erupted they contacted fire tenders.

SDM Surankote Mohd Saleem Qureshi told GNS that he has ordered an inquiry allegations made by the locals.

A sub inspector of the CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police was on Sunday evening shot dead in a village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Reports said a sub inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police presently working with the CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir was on Sunday evening shot dead by unidentified gunmen in village Chewai Kalan in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. PDP worker shot dead in Srinagar outskirts

KASHMIR 24X7  PDP worker was shot dead  by unknown gunmen at Gangbugh area of Tengpora in outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday evening.
Official sources told that the gunmen fired upon the PDP worker Identified as Mohd Amin Dar at Gangbok.

   Dar received serious bullet wounds and was taken to JVC hospital where he succumbed.

Sources said that Dar was close aide of former minister and Senior PDP leader Altaf Bukhari.

SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray also confirmed the incident.

A case has been registered and investigations into the matter has been initiated he said.

Soon after the attack goverment forces have launched hunt to nab the attackers.

    Unidentified gunmen shot dead sub-inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir after forcing him to come out of his i10 vehicle (JK01AD-3852) near Romshi Nallah in Wahibugh area here around 4:20 pm today, official sources told.
