Gunfight rattles South Kashmir’s Tral

Srinagar November 09: A Gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in DarGanie-Gund area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

Reportsreaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 42RR, 180 BN CRPF and SOG cordoned off Darganie-Gund after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter. Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.(GNS)

Geelani telephonically addresses condolence gathering of slain Shopian youth

Kashmir 24X7 “India is suffering from arrogance of power and is using an imperialistic attitude in Jammu and Kashmir to crush our movement of right to self determination,” said the chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani in his telephonic address to mourners of slain youth Aamir Ahmad Rather of Aawneera, Shopian.
According to a statement issued to GNS, Geelani in his telephonic address paid tributes to all the slain youth and said, “Since 1947, our nation has rendered unparalleled sacrifices.” He said the situation in Valley is worsening with each passing day and that Indian authorities rely on their military might to suppress people’s aspirations and muzzle voices.
Justifying the resentment from youth, Geelani said “our youth are resisting, putting an end to slavery and this barbarity”. (GNS)

Army man-turned militant, associate killed in Shopian gunfight

Two Hizb ul Mujahideen militants, including an Army man turned-militant, were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Zainapora area of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Tuesday, police said.
A spokesman, in a statement, said that the state police and the forces launched a cordon and search operation in Safanagri village before dawn today following "credible" inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
"As the search operation was going on, the hiding militants fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated, leading to an encounter," he said.
In the ensuing gunfight, he said, two  militants were killed.
He identified the slain as Mohd Idrees Sultan alias chota Abrar S/o Mohd Sultan R/o Safanagri Shopian, and Amir Hussain Rather alias Abu Sobaan S/o Mohd Amin Rather R/o Awneera Shopian.

Two militants killed in overnight Shopian gunfight

Srinagar, Nov 6 : Two militants were killed in a gunfight with goverment forces at Safanagri area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday pre-dawn hours.

Official sources told GNS that a joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and- search operation at Safanagri following specific inputs about the presence of some militants.

As such the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight.

Two militants have been killed in the gunfight, they said.

A police officer also confirmed the killing of the militants and said that their identity is being ascertained. (GNS)
