Turning JK Bank into Public Sector Bank; Mehbooba asks Governor to rollback decision without delay Says assault on JK’s special status being made on multiple fronts ‘Governor administration must concentrate on state's day to day functioning’

Kashmir 24X7: Calling for the immediate rollback of the decision taken by State Administrative Council to turn the J&K Bank Ltd into a public-sector bank, former Chief Minister and President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti has said that the Governor administration is taking such decisions which smack off attempts to fiddle with the basic characters of the state’s special status. The State Administrative Council chaired by Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday decided to turn the J&K Bank Ltd into a public-sector bank, taking its autonomy away.
The PDP President said that the there are assaults on multiple fronts being launched against Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and the Governor administration is taking away autonomy of institutions that J&K enjoyed. KASHMIR 24X7 :Top constitutional experts of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday said that Jammu and Kashmir Bank after its declaration as a public sector bank is now fully in the administrative and financial control of the Jammu and Kashmir government and the authority of the bank chairman has been reduced to the extent of the managing director of a public sector corporation. However they said that a popular government if put in place has the powers to roll back such orders by a simple cabinet decision. Panchayat Polls-2018: Voting to take place at 2773 polling booths in Phase-III 423592 electors to vote for Sarpanch Halqas, 270668 for Panch Wards: CEO

Jammu, Nov 23 : Polling for Phase-III of Panchayat Polls-2018 will be held tomorrow at 2773 polling stations including 918 in Kashmir division and 1855 in Jammu division. The timing for polling is from 8 am to 2 pm.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Shaleen Kabra, 727 polling stations have been categorized as hypersensitive in Phase-III, including 493 in Kashmir division and 234 in Jammu division.
He said 5239 candidates are in the fray in Phase-III for 358 Sarpanch and 1652 Panch seats, while 96 Sarpanchs and 1437 Panchs have been elected unopposed in this Phase.
He said in the areas going to polls in Phase-III, electorate of 423592 will be voting for Sarpanch constituencies while 270668 will be voting for Panch constituencies. “Photo Voter Slips have been distributed among the voters to inform them of their polling station,” he said.

Clashes erupt, internet, train services suspended, thousands attend funeral prayers Six militants killed in Bijbehara encounter

Srinagar, Nov 23 : At least six militants affiliated with Hizb and LeT were Friday killed in a gunfight that raged between forces and militants in Shalagul area of Bijbehara area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
Police said a cordon and search operation was launched jointly by government forces at the onset of dawn today inside a forest area of Bijbehara following input about the presence of militants.
As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the militants. The fire was retaliated leading to a gunfight in which six militants were killed, police said.
“Incriminating materials including huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter,” police said adding that there was no collateral damage.
Police said that among the six militants, one identified as Azad Ahmad Malik alias Dada of Arwani who was the accused in Rising Kashmir Editor-in-Chief Shujaat Bukhari…

Militant killings trigger clashes in south Kashmir’s Anantnag

The killing of six militants in a gunfight with the government forces on Friday triggered violent protests across the south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports said that people took to streets in Shalgund-Kanelwan village of Dachnipora belt of Bibehara where the gunfight took place earlier today.

A local said that forces resorted to aerial firing on protesters in Khanabal locality of Anantnag town. Further details are awaited. –

JRL calls for valley wide shutdown on Thursday against killing of Hurriyat leader in Anantnag
